As the Emmy award-winning Executive Producer of David Harris Katz Entertainment Inc., David brings a wealth of experience, passion and enthusiasm to every project he takes on. Over the past 25 years, David has worked for NBC, CBS, ABC, King World, Tribune, Telepictures and Cablevision.
David's most recent project is a 13-episode series called “Wow, I Never Knew That!” Each episode uncovers the truths and origins of everyday stuff. The program is quite successful and has spent weeks at #1 on Hoopla, beating out legendary documentarian Ken Burns in the DOCUMENTARY category. It has also spent weeks in the Top 10 on Apple TV in the EDUCATIONAL category. It has been voted MOST POPULAR on CORDCUTTING.COM. And it received many prestigious awards including the Marcom award, the Ava award, the Telly award and the Empixx award. It continues to dominate each platform it debuts in. The series can be seen all over the world, in many different languages.
In 2007, David co-produced an award-winning music video “Light Yourself Up,” featuring Chad Love, for Evol Records. And “Diets Don’t Work,” a self-help DVD, that explains the secrets to creating a healthier lifestyle. The host, Jennifer Tuma went on to national success becoming a recurring guest on the “Rachael Ray Show.”
In 2006, 20th Century Fox released “The Latin Legends of Comedy.” David served as editor. The video featured three of the country’s funniest Latino comedians. The DVD made it into the top ten.
David has several shows in development, including “Love Auction, ” a live, interactive dating show where regular folks auction themselves off for a date. All money raised goes to charity. And “If I Wasn’t Famous,” using prosthetic makeup, A-list celebrities transform into regular joes. They go “undercover” to serve the public like never before. From trimming trees to fixing a toilet, you’ll wonder why these celebrities ever gave up their day job! And “See What’s Next”, a visionary journey that shows how existing technology can be repurposed to produce new results. Plus, many more exciting shows.
David started his career as an NBC Page and worked on such shows as “Saturday Night Live” and “Late Night with David Letterman.” His hard work as a Page paid off when he was offered a full-time job with “News Channel 4,” where he held several positions including Production Associate for the 5, 6 and 11 O’clock newscasts. He was then promoted to WNBC’s Creative Services department where he helped re-launch the station, as well as become a full-time Producer.
After WNBC, David became known for his outstanding work on “The Charles Perez Show.” He elevated talk show promos to a new level where his creativity, design and production skills were being recognized by some of the most respected people in the industry. The music video, “He’s got it goin’ on,” which he produced for “The Charles Perez Show,” became a staple on E!’s “Talk Soup” for weeks. The music video was even featured on “The Ricki Lake Show” when Charles Perez was a guest. He also produced spots for talk shows such as “The Jenny Jones Show,” “American Journal,” “The Montel Williams Show,” “The Dennis Prager Show” and “Donahue.”
David has won one Emmy award and has been nominated twice. He has also won a Gold Promax award, an Ava award, four Telly awards, nine Communicator awards, a New York Festivals award, an Aurora award, an Empixx award and three MarCom awards. His talent and creativity have been noticed by the best in the business.
David graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a B.A. in Television with a minor in Psychology. David is certified by Apple Inc. in Final Cut Pro 4, 5 and DVD Studio Pro.
