A Bold New Image Campaign Celebrates the Spirit and Energy of New York

Emmy® Award-winning Executive Producer David Harris Katz unveils a bold new image
campaign, evolving from a version first produced in 2024, that celebrates the spirit and energy of
New York. Reimagined with a high-energy, dance-driven soundtrack and added visuals designed
to match the city’s unmistakable rhythm, the video is a joyful, fast-moving tribute to experiences
that can only be found in New York. It invites New Yorkers and visitors alike to rediscover the
city through moments of culture, connection, and everyday wonder, from Manhattan to all five
boroughs.

The campaign is designed to uplift, energize, and reconnect people with the city they love, while
reminding visitors why New York remains the world’s cultural heartbeat. It is celebratory,
inclusive, and unmistakably New York, capturing the rhythm, diversity, humor, ambition, and
magic that exist nowhere else.

Katz’s passion for New York City and music was shaped early in his career while working on
WNBC’s iconic, multi-million-dollar “We’re 4 New York” campaign, serving as a Producer
alongside legendary Executive Producer Randy Pyburn. That campaign, featuring music by
renowned jingle master Edd Kalehoff, became a defining moment for the station and the city,
demonstrating the power of music and imagery to unite and inspire New Yorkers.

The inspiration for Today is The Best Day in New York grew organically during the production of
Katz’s award-winning television series Date While You Wait, based on a real-life social
experiment where a man invited strangers to connect while waiting for their train. The concept
resonated worldwide, earning an Emmy® Award, multiple Emmy® nominations, and over a
dozen platinum and gold awards, along with extensive international press coverage.

The series airs weekly on NYC Life, the City of New York’s official broadcast network, reaching
audiences across the five boroughs, and nationwide, with programming that reflects the city’s
culture, diversity, and civic spirit.

Date While You Wait originally opened with a song titled Today is The Best Day in Your Life, a
lyric that sparked the evolution into Today is The Best Day in New York. That creative shift
became the foundation for a broader image campaign focused on optimism, connection, and the
joy of everyday moments that define life in New York.

The newly recut version elevates that vision even further. Its driving beat, dynamic pacing, and
visually rich storytelling create a piece that feels current, celebratory, and endlessly rewatchable.
It is designed to make audiences smile, tap their feet, and feel proud to be part of New York’s
story, whether they live here, work here, or are visiting for the very first time.
